Topic-Based, Example-Based, or Essay Topics?
Topic-Based, Example-Based, or Essay Topics? When writing a great essay, it's important to remember that the primary objective of any academic essay is to inform and inspire your reader. And, there are a number of methods you can use to accomplish this: by topic, or by examples. Some students prefer to use a topic-based essay, while others choose to focus on some examples. By choosing a topic, you can be sure that the focus of your essay will be on the text. This makes it easier to figure out what questions you need to ask of the text, or how you plan to approach the text from a certain angle.A student chooses the topic of his or her essay based on a number of different factors. For example, a student may find a specific piece of literature very interesting, while another student may find the same piece of literature boring. In this case, the topic of the essay will be more in keeping with the content of the text but still allow the writer to fill in any blanks in the text. When choosin g topics for essays, remember that there are a number of different types of topics that can be used. One of the more popular topics is the 'objective statement'. The objective statement, or 'so what?' sentence, is an excellent essay topic because it allows the writer to add a personal perspective into the text.Other topics for essays include statements of fact. You may find it difficult to write an essay that contains facts, but facts are a necessary part of the academic discussion process. Here, facts can be used to 'break' the essay down into sections, or even to explore a specific point of view within the text.Essays can also be written by using examples. This approach allows the student to choose a specific example, or to look at various types of examples, depending on their individual goals. For example, if the essay is intended to serve as a comparison between two or more points of view, it may be beneficial to choose multiple examples to illustrate the differences between the points of view. Finally, some essays focus on a particular concept or idea. The purpose of this essay is to provide a summary of the topic; this may take the form of a short story or lecture. In addition, the focus of this type of essay is to provide a brief overview of the topic, so that the student can begin to develop their own ideas for the text.It is important to note that essay topics can be in any one of these three formats. The choice is ultimately up to the student, but as with any other creative writing task, it is important to keep in mind the overall goal of the essay: to enlighten, motivate, and inspire your reader.
